Floating · FIRST VISITS & EVERYDAY WELLBEING
Dubai has a remarkable talent for filling every free moment. A meeting ends, a notification arrives. You finally get home, and suddenly your phone has 19 very important things to show you. Somehow, even relaxing becomes another task.
So here's a slightly rebellious idea: what if you spent an hour doing absolutely nothing?
No scrolling, no errands, no podcast explaining how to optimize your morning. Just warm water, quiet, and very little demanding your attention. Welcome to float therapy in Dubai.
Float therapy—sometimes called sensory deprivation or flotation-REST—takes place in a private float pod or floating room. The shallow water contains enough Epsom salt to keep you buoyant without swimming or trying to balance. It's warmed to approximately skin temperature, so the boundary between you and the water can become surprisingly hard to notice.
The environment reduces external sound, light, and physical pressure. It does not shut off your senses or your brain. It simply removes a lot of the usual background noise.
At Simple Float, sessions are 60 minutes, and we have individual pods as well as rooms for couples.
We could say it's like being an astronaut. But most of us haven't been to space, so that would be a little ambitious.
Imagine lying down without a mattress pressing against your shoulders or hips. Your body is supported evenly. There's no technique to learn. Your arms can rest wherever they feel comfortable.
Then your thoughts turn up. Did you answer that email? What should you have for dinner? Why did you say that strange thing at a party three years ago?
Perfectly normal. Floating is not a competition to see who can clear their mind fastest. Some people feel peaceful immediately; others spend a while getting used to the stillness. Both count as floating.
The obvious reason is to relax. But there are a few interesting layers to that answer.
On an ordinary day, our attention is pulled in ten directions. Floating creates a setting without screens, conversation, traffic or constant decisions. For many people, the novelty isn't silence itself—it's not being asked for anything.
Buoyant water supports the body without the normal pressure points of a chair or bed. That can feel particularly welcome after hours at a desk or a hard training week. Floating isn't medical treatment or injury rehabilitation; it's a way to make rest feel unusually effortless.
A 2025 systematic review of flotation-REST studies reported promising findings for stress, anxiety and some pain-related outcomes, while highlighting small studies and other limitations. That's a reason to be curious, not a reason to promise a cure. Read the review.
Arrive: We're at Village Mall in Jumeirah 1. Our team explains how the space works and answers questions, including the ones you think sound silly. (They usually aren't.)
Shower: You'll prepare in your private area before getting into the water. Towels, slippers and earplugs are provided.
Float: Lie back and let the water support you. You can rest with your eyes closed, notice your breathing, or simply allow your mind to wander. There is no performance target.
Return to the world: Shower off the salt and, if you like, spend a little time in the lounge. Try not to schedule a frantic meeting immediately afterward. It rather defeats the spirit of the exercise.
No swimming is involved. The salt makes floating effortless. You should still be comfortable in water and follow the safety instructions.
Tell the team before booking. We can explain the available pods and larger rooms, and help you decide whether the experience feels suitable. You never need to force yourself through an uncomfortable session.
Yes. Simple Float has a dedicated couples float cabin. It's a pretty unusual date: spending time together without needing to come up with something to say.
Avoid shaving immediately before a session because salt may sting irritated skin. Skip excessive caffeine if you're hoping to unwind, and arrive with enough time not to rush. Ask your healthcare professional before floating if you have a condition that may affect your safety; avoid floating with open wounds, contagious illness, or while intoxicated.
Choose a single float if you're curious about the weightless experience. Choose Float + Massage if you'd like the quiet of floating and the hands-on relaxation of massage in one visit. There's no universally correct order; it's largely a matter of preference.
Curious enough to do nothing for an hour? Explore floating and book a session. If you'd rather make a longer afternoon of it, explore Float + Massage.
See you in the water,
The Simple Float Team
